With great appreciation and admiration to Shechita UK’s colleagues in Canada, a new peer-reviewed paper by Dr has recently been published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, entitled: The cardiovascular effects of shechita in cattle: a systematic review shows the fallacies that vertebral artery will preserve cerebral blood flow and false aneurysms occur in severed carotid arteries (30 April 2025).
The article systematically debunks two longstanding anti-Shechita claims: that the vertebral arteries preserve brain function after the cut, and that “false aneurysms” block exsanguination. Dr Rabkin shows that cerebral blood flow drops below 5% within seconds, and that so-called aneurysms are simple clots without physiological effect.
