SHECHITA UK RESPONDS TO DECISION BY NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT
In response to the recent announcement by the New Zealand Government that has resulted in the end of Shechita in NZ, a spokesperson for Shechita UK said today:
“Shechita UK views the current situation in NZ with dismay. We believe that the report by NAWAC was based on inconclusive evidence derived from flimsy, agenda based science which has served only to enhance the campaign to delegitimise Shechita. We are enormously disappointed that the Minister has taken the most extreme course of action in response to that report.
The NZ Jewish community is working to address the matter directly with the NZ Government.
However, Shechita UK stands ready to provide whatever religious, scientific and public affairs support as the NZ Jewish community requires and requests.”
